Meet Joe Carollo

As a Cuban-American who arrived in the U.S. alone at age six through Operation Pedro Pan, Joe Carollo’s life is defined by service and perseverance. He became Florida’s youngest police officer upon graduation and later earned dual degrees in Criminal Justice and International Relations from FIU.

At just 24 years old, he was elected as Miami’s youngest Commissioner in history — a position he’s held five times. Joe went on to serve as Vice Mayor and then twice as Mayor of Miami, leading initiatives that strengthened safety, accountability, and public trust. He also presided over the Conference of Mayors of major cities across the hemisphere.
